Gratitude Journal

  • When the sun shines in Salt Lake City, the mountain views are fabulous.  The traffic is quite manageable.  The people are unbelievably nice.
  • Roger has been thoroughly checked out, and has gotten a clean bill of health on everything.  Other than recovery from leukemia and a bone marrow transplant, he's in great shape.
  • We learned that we are courageous.
  • We appreciate every day of life to a much greater degree than we did before.
  • We know that we can feel fear without allowing ourselves to be paralyzed by it.
  • We will never again have to go through that heart-wrenching first experience of hearing the words "you have cancer."
  • We have a found a new sort of intimacy far beyond the romance of our early years together.
  • There is freedom to be found in having gone through the worst thing you can imagine.
  • We have wonderful and loyal friends who support us.
  • We love our family and our family loves us.
  • We are so glad to have good health insurance.
  • We are thankful to The University of Montana for allowing me this time to be here to take care of Roger.  The transplant would not have been possible otherwise.
  • We are thankful for our friends and co-workers at The University of Montana who have generously donated their sick leave.
  • At home in Montana we can drink cold, clear, good tasting water right out of the tap.
  • So thankful some very smart people are curious enough to keep trying to solve the mystery of leukemia.
  • We are thankful that we got to have this last wonderful, relatively healthy year together.
  • I am so happy to have my kids with me during this difficult time.

We are grateful that this list can only get longer day by day!
